This month’s story comes from Randy Foulds.
This is Randy’s 18th 914. After restoring and selling many of the previous 914’s, he built this car for himself. He had acquired it as a full-time race car, which he used to race for two seasons with Vintage Auto Racing Association. Eventually, COVID struck, limiting his track time. So, he decided to remove the cage, install an interior, and reinstalled all of the lights and glass. He tamed the motor from the 11:1 compression 170 horsepower version, to a 9:1 120 horsepower 2.0 liter. This car was one of the first 1,000 cars imported in 1973 that was delivered with A pillar vinyl, so he decided to add that back as well.
“914Rubber supplied many of the parts,” says Randy, “including LED headlights, blank door cards, new window seals, window trim tabs, trunk seals, bumper tops, and much more.”
Over the last 12 years, he has rebuilt and restored 6 different 914’s, all while using 914Rubber.
