This month's customer car story comes from Charlie Tupper. Charlie’s had two 914s over the past 50 years. The first was a late production 1970 914-4 (4702913275). He bought it as a "leftover" in February 1971 and drove it until mid 1981. It was tangerine with a tan interior - a beautiful car.
Unfortunately, the initial hell hole problems and longitudinal rust issues, exacerbated by winter driving in New Hampshire and Long Island, took their toll on the car.
Almost 50 years later to the day, he found his second and current 914. A 1973 1.7L in yellow with the same tan interior. As Charlie says: “Strong longs, good hellhole. Finding 914Rubber (thanks to Ian Karr) made such a difference! All the little annoying parts ... right there. Really appreciate your work reproducing and improving on the original.”
