This month's customer car story comes from Bob Munao. Bob is the 5th owner of a 1974 Cremesicle 914. The car was first sold to the president of the L.A. Porsche club who did a full off-body restore in 2009. The car went to a collector in Colorado, then another collector in Minnesota, and then to a collector in Chicago, where Bob found it 2 years ago. This Cremesicle was always kept in a climate-controlled garage and has 109,000 original verified miles on it.
Bob relocated the Cremesicle to Florida where he took the entire undercarriage apart to install stainless steel brake and fuel lines. Then he removed the engine to replace all hoses and perfect the original fuel injection system. He added a new clutch, brakes, and shocks - all parts from Tangerine Racing - to get better drivability and replaced all the “rubber” with new seals from 914Rubber.
Perfecting the original interior, Bob added LEDs on gauges and LEDs when you open the door to light footwells at night! The car was finished out at Auto Atlanta. With $35,000 in restoration in it, the car was ready for Werks Reunion Amelia Island Concours d 'Elegance. Bob says that the Cremesicle “…wins every show it’s entered in.
Bob, thanks for sharing your story with us and your passion for Cremesicles. Keep winning those awards!
